    Swapping stocks on rifles?

Will swapping stocks change the accuracy? We have 2 savage 110 in different calibers. Before the change one of the guns was dead on and after it is shooting 12 inches to the right. Would going from a wood stock to a synthetic really affect how it is sighted in?

My other question is how? The scope is mounted to barrel and action not the stock. Is it the way it is held or shouldered that would change.

everything makes a difference....Is the barrel free floated in the new stock? you could have torched the screws a little different when putting it in the new stock. Might not lay 100% the same way in the new stock, a fraction of an inch can change a lot at 100 yards. Your cheek weld could be different form on stock to the other....

some time you can pull the gun out of a stock and put it right back in the same stock and have a shift of impact….

Either one or both of the stocks is not free floated. Even in a free floated stock you can get some slight shift in POI when taken out but it wouldn't be anywhere near as much.

Plus-unless you used a torque wrench for the re-install, you most likely didn't get the action screws torqued the same as they were originally. Calibrated grips aren't.

Yep. Even if you put the action back in the same stock you took it out of. You will likely need to re-sight in the gun.

Yup... Even if you bed it and torque it to the exact same specs. POI will move no doubt.
