Bottom metal

I am looking for bottom metal for a remington 700. Just double checking that for a .223 a short action is all I need. I've found a few but they all say they're off of a .308 short action so I'm just verifying before I buy one. Sorry if this is a silly question, but just wanted to verify. Thanks for any input.

308 and 223 are built on the same actions. It will work.

Floor plate and follower spring will work ; however the 223 size cases use a different follower and modified box mag

223 will not feed properly out of a 308 size mag box

I've got a rem 700 ADL with a "forgot name of stock" without bottom metal. Just need something to be able to switch it over and load some rounds into the action. Cajun Blake, do I have to add anything after buying the bottom metal? I've noticed the box and the other parts are those caliber specific? Trophy8 pm pending soon.

Nope to switch adl to bdl is fairly simple...

Mag box is probably gonna be too tall... Have a pair of tin snips ready.

Well that about sums it up then. Tin snips and tape, after purchasing the BM! My stock is a Boyd's as well so that actually helped a lot!
