Savage Model 11. Buy or not to buy?

A buddy of mine is wanting to sell me a Savage Model 11 in .308 It has a Nikon Pro Staff scope on it (3x9 I think)

What would be a fair price for both of us.

I really don't need another .308 but I figure I might as well to help him out. Just don't want to overpay.

What would you pay for it?

    Thanks

Depending on overall age/condition/round count and stock/trigger/barrel contour.... $350-450 on newer models, but that's a ballpark guesstimate, could go up, could go down

350-450 is a very accurate range. The wood stock, Accutrigger models sell for closer to 450 used, the non accutrigger synthetic versions bring between 350 and 400.

I'd add 75 for the scope in the package for said numbers

Buy it then buy you a pre-chambered and threaded barrel from sharp shooter supply in a 260 or 6.5x47 lapua. Then pick you up a new stock for it. With a set of go-nogo gauges and a few tools you can swap the barrel and build your own semi custom long range shooter for around 1000.00 total. And the best part is you built it yourself. Lots of info on the web about changing out savage barrels on the web. The savages are great factory shooters and with the floating head design of the bolt you don't have to blue print and face the action like the 700 actions.

this guy hit nail on the head.
I just built my 300 wsm with a savage and with a few basic tools I put a shilen barrel on and it is shooting so tight now I have had to take targets down and inspect closer because I have been putting em in the same hole on multiple occasions!
