Lessons I think we should learn from Zimmerman

    1) Every bullet you shoot has a lawsuit attached to it!
    2) In my opinion - if the man who saw the fight got into the fight, Travon might still be alive and just in a little trouble. If the neighbor got into the fight, then it's two against one. Yes this is dangerous and only the situation can suggest the best action to take.
    3) If your on the phone with 911 - over tell them what your doing. This is a chance to cover your butt because the call is recorded. "OK - I am walking back to my car now.. Can you stay with me for a few till I get to the car?" Or something.
    4) You have a CHL - but your not a police officer, swat or navy seal. It's your last last last line of defense.

That is what I got so far.. I would like to know more from the others about what they learned. My intent is that we all learn something and it just might save our life and the lives of the ones we love.

I would like to especially hear from those in law enforcement and law related professions.

Thanks and may God keep you all safe from harm.
    Amen.

If they arent on your property or you directly see them do anything illegal stay out of it. If they are in your neighbors yard call them and let the neighbor do something.

Now if you neighbor gets shot at or gets beaten up you can come to his aid, otherwise stay out of it.

If your a white guy pray he isnt black and the media hears about it.

I think #1 should have been......don't go to swinging on someone you don't know, as they might just be a CHL holder and you'll die.....but that's just me.

You are right though with the statement that every bullet fired WILL have a lawsuit attatched to it. Something to definitely take from all this.

I think those can be somewhat misleading in the sense that Zimmerman was the neighborhood watch. He wasn't just some CHL holder out for a walk and got in this mess. He was doing what a watchman does.

To add to the above, after you call 911 back away, or dont call 911 until after you see where he goes. Most of the crap i have heard from the Trayvon side where "the 1911 operator told him to stay in the car."

              3. A 911 call will probably never save your butt( in the legal sense, I'm sure calling 911 when you have a heart attack will save your butt). Your just giving them evidence. Its akin to talking to the police without a lawyer. The 911 operator is not your friend. They are trained to keep you on the line, and thats not for your own good. Zimmerman's 911 call only hurt him in court.

                  4) De-escalate the situation and try to find a way to avoid shooting someone if at all possible. You may be justified to shoot but you might be charged, you'll likely be sued and you will have to live with the decision forever.
                  5) Assume people you might tussel with on the road or otherwise have a CHL and a weapon. You might find yourself bringing your fists to a gun fight.

Exactly correct sir. The only time that happened was in closing arguments!

What I took away from this shooting was to let the law do their job. If I see or hear something suspicious I'll call LEOs. Actually seeing a crime is different.
If someone starts beating on me I've waited too long on drawing my weapon. Travon could have beaten George's head hard enough to kill him or knock him unconscious and that isn't going to happen to me if given half a chance to draw.
But if attacked I'm going to fight back and try to hurt the guy severely. Eyes, throat, etc... I'm too old to stand there and go toe to toe.

What I learned from all this is if you're a regular guy with a CHL you aren't a trained professional so you have no business carrying a weapon in public. However, if you do have training, you only got it because you wanted to kill someone and know what to do and say to get away with it.

GT Distributors sells a small clip-on camera the about 2/3 the size of a clothespin for about $50.00. I've been putting off getting one, but after seeing how dishonest the Justice System is, its a small hassle to deal with compared to what he went through.

The part about the camera I understand.

The first paragraph sounds like JJ himself wrote it for you! What's up with that?

Edit: you were being sarcastic of what was being said BY OTHERS. Got it.
