    Are you running your suppressed?

I ask because I just put a Vortex Crossfire II (cheap but I liked the illuminated dot reticle) on my 300 Blk AR that's suppressed and it wouldn't hold a zero. After about 50 rounds something inside the scope broke and you couldn't see through the glass. I took it off and it rattles like a coffee can with a rock in it.

I'm wondering if there is an issue with the way ARs recoil with a suppressor that makes the hard on scopes.

Shouldn't be. Especially on a suppressed AR. Suppressors help reduce recoil.

A suppressed 300 blackout shooting subsonics barely has more recoil than a 22 mag.

Agreed. My only though was with the spring and buffer tube coming back forward along with the bolt causing a sort of forward recoil. Like and air gun.

I wasn't when the scope went south.

My platform is a TC Encore... So no AR type action... Just single shot/break open action.

I shot it suppressed today. very nice.. And quiet. And very accurate with the vx3 on top of it.

Hey Coach give us an update when you can on the Amax rds. I have a few hundred to shoot out of my single shot too. Ive heard they are ok for head/neck shots but possibly expand too much for vital shots. I also ordered a few hundred of the Nosler 185gr rds from Dallas Reloads and will try them out as soon as they come in.

208 Amax is subsonic, hes not getting any expansion.

oops poor choice of works, I meant that they would fragment. Ive heard mixed reviews on actually using them for hunting. I know theyre not recommended by hornady for hunting. I have some but havent shot them yet. Finding a 1050fps rd that can properly expand and keep its weight with only 450ishlbs of power is quite a task.

Subsonic ammo isn't going to expand.

The hope and plan of the ammo is that it's heavy enough to do the damage it needs.

Hopefully once inside an animal it will yaw and tumble enough to hit something important enough to kill it.

My plan is much like the plan i use for big animals with small calibers... to aim for a soft entrance that leads to something vital.

Ear leads to the brain... There's also a very thin spot on the top of the head when the pig is looking at you... But I'm looking for broadside head shots if i can get them

Here is a ballistics test I did shooting into a bulletproof vest. If you scroll down you will see what the 208 Amax did.

My mistake I was lookin at the vmax gell not the amax. On another note, has anyone tried the Lehigh Defense max expansion ammo?

I am currently working up a subsonic hand load for these. I have not shot an animal with one yet but supposedly they will expand. They are expensive as heck though.

I will tell for a fact that SMKs and AMax will not expand at subsonic velocities.

KD is Spot On.Nikon's P-300 BLK will do what you want it to J. I have shot the
Nikon P-300 BLK with both supersonic and subsonic with a suppressor to 200 yards using Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program. Very accurate and tough to beat the price.
