    Colt M4 Ops - .22lr ammo

So I have a Colt M4 Ops (.22lr) gun and wanted to see what others may have experienced as it relates to ammo. Because it is all I had at the time, it shot several hundred Remington Thunderbolt bullets through and the fouling inside the barrel was almost unbelievable. It was caked up at the non-muzzle end of the barrel so much that I almost couldn't get a cleaning brush through the barrel and where accuracy was significantly affected. This past weekend I shot a couple hundred rounds of Winchester Wildcat 22 and had similar, but not quite as bad results, but not what I would have expected from only a couple hundred rounds. Any suggestions or experiences on other types of ammo that have done well in this gun? Thanks.

That's lead 22lr ammo for you. The wax and lead is quite messy... The wax is messier the hotter it gets.

If im not shooting subsonic I prefer to shoot The copper plated stuff... It makes WAY less mess.

Disclaimer: I do not own a colt m4.. I would if I could find one for a great deal though. I do own quite a few other 22's though... I think you will enjoy the copper plated ammo more.

I just got some CCI copper plated, but it is tougher to find and more expensive. Despite that, I may have to trade some of my lead .22lr bullets for copper if that helps the issue. Thanks for the feedback.

clean the barrel, look down it, then shoot ONE non copper plated round through it. then look back down the barrel. (im referring to the cheap bulk stuff) 22 ammo is dirty!! i shoot federal gold medal, eley, and cci velocitors and stingers through mine for accuracy. the eley is the cleanest i have seen but you can buy 500 rounds in bulk for what one 50 round box costs lol

I'm a Remington Golden Bullet fan boy now. It runs great in my Glock conversion, Mosquito, and 10/22. Due to lack of .22 ammo availability I've been shooting a ton of different brands lately (pretty much whatever I can find on a store shelf) and it has really blown me away.
