Be aware Richards microfit "press fit" is more like 70% complete... You will need to do alot of in letting, i had to remove alot off the comb to run the bolt, and you will have to some major wood work to finish the exterior.

Boyd's and this one from stocky stocks are very near perfect. I will need to remove some material for the wider timney trigger but if I wanted to I could do that with a pocket knife, screw on the action and go shoot it. However, I'm gonna skim bed this one. Pretty easy to do and makes a world of difference on the bench.

Yup those kershaws are sweet knives. I prefer the 1670... Can be had for around 35 bucks if you know where to look. Have a great texture to the handle, assisted opening, and the blade keeps an edge for 3-5 cleanings. I have a few of them. This one actually started out as a red one.. That faded pink then got dura coated green by me.

I think I will take this stock with me to the lease and start prepping it for bedding. Be looking for pics on my bedding rifle project thread. (as I find enough service to post em from my phone) http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...d.php?t=294109

                          Very nice.

I have a Richards for a mod 10 that I need to finish. It came with a narrow barrel channel that had to be opened up to receive the tactical heavy barrel. I've nearly got it ready for bedding and then all the finish work.

You're right, they're a lot more work but imo they have more unique designs than the drop in stocks offer. I'm thinking of going all out on it by adding a misquite fore end and grip cap. Should be fun.

I'm not a fan of the caps but do post pics of yours, I may be swayed...

For what it's worth Richards has that discontinued laminate. They called it the "ultra light" ends up being very light colored wood too. I want one pretty bad.... Bad enough I went through their in stock page and found the ones they had still, and started to look for those guns to buy and slap one in. Mauser 98, 95, Pass on those.. Then I saw the Remington 600 Mohawk.... Now that would be sweet! But I'm not left handed .... Dang it.
