Colt 1911 Gurus: Super Commander ?'s

posted on 1911forum and coltforum and I guess the peeps on there are clueless as I get no answer over there...

anywho, trying to help a friend with his fathers collection, this particular 1911 we are trying to nail down as a limited edition we think but wanting mainly to see about a value, in box and most likely mint.....colt stainless super commander serial CSC00X

will try and get pics but that might take a while...he lives a ways away and is a technophobe...no internet...lol

    anyone?

    contact Colt.

I would say dont get too excited. Colt has done hundreds of special issues w/ unique serial numbers. I can easily place its worth between $600 and $3k.
high end will be in unfired condition w/matching box and all papers.

      Go to www.proofhouse.com
Pick Colt s/n, under the '1911 38 super model & 38 super match'

Only one coming close to your partial sn is one made only in 1969 or 1970...do not try and get pics...get a bunch of GOOD pics and post up!!

I need to know what this gun is...I was expecting this gun to be a TALO limited edition, but you may have something special here. Too special not to share pics is what I hope!! Nothing on talo sight so pretty sure I am on right track??

Someone from colt forum will know, but traffic is slow and mostly wheel gun guys there but have never not had a question answered.

I 'think' you have a rare 1911 with the limited info on the net. I'll check blue book but may need to borrow a friends book which is the holy grail of everything 1905 and 1911.

The born date matching your s/n has me sucked in here...gotta get clarification on what you have

it's all money since these guns were all his Father's...but hell, I'm excited just to see all the stuff his father had.....so far a couple uzi's, about 15 1911's, several agent/detective/commando revolvers, a cobra, couple mauser pocket pistols, colt R6430, m1 carbine paratrooper, iver johnson enforcer (for sale), steyr m95, steyr SPP (for sale)....he keeps finding more stuff...can't wait to see what he digs up next....

I m2'd that yesterday but since his father was an FFL, he has pretty extensive documentation but this particular colt, the only information that's there is he bought it from someone in 1992 for $500ish...I have not seen this particular one but hopefully get some pics tomorrow...he says it's in the factory brown box, had the model number 04014sc I think it was which is just a generic stock number from what I can tell but other documentation his father had says this particular 1911 was a limited run of 750...I only found two CSC*** serial references, one of which was in a collection that was just auctioned but no other information than that and then the posting on 1911forum that I piggybacked...still no response...

                is this it ?

i'll defer to Arto's experience on this but stick to my opinion that Colt does soooo many "special runs" that I just dont see an abnormally high value,,,

                  Thanks!

From my buddy's description, that sounds exactly like it...super commander on slide...that is a sweet gun and I'd like to talk him out of it but in box, extremely low serial I would be able to do anything with it other than put it in the safe with the other safe queens...lol...

That one went for way more than I was expecting to see but....it's only worth what someone (that knows about it) will pay for it
