    AR Barrel identification help????

I bought this AR back in the 90's when the ban was in place.

It's a Bushmaster so it's before they sold and went down hill.

What I don't know is if it was a pieced together. The upper has no markings. Obviously the lower is marked by Bushy.

What can y'all tell me about the barrel based on the markings I circled???

    Well conjecture on that mark.

Some say it's stands for Bush Master Production

Others say they Batch tested those barrels using Magnetic/Magnaflux Particle testing...

My understanding is B MP means: Bushmaster Magnetic Particle inspected.

either way to answer your original question it's an original bushmaster barrel.

Well if a HB makes a better long shooter I might set it up for that with a good scope and 45 degree off set rail with a red dot on it.

can you take a picture of the BCG ?
mostly the staking of the gas key.
also, what marks are on the bolt ?

Im interested due to the age of the weapon.

Sure. Gimme about 10 minutes. I bought it like in 98 ish but who knows how long the guy had it before that?

I'm curious what you think as well.

BTW.....I didn't see any identifiable markings on the bolt

Lol... Ya doesn't look shot much for owning it since the 90's.

For the record I'm not impressed with that staking. But it's a moot point since you will obviously never shoot it enough to give it a chance to fail.

its hard to see but the staking looks acceptable.
the trick to proper staking is to push material into the sides of the screw head to prevent them from easily backing off.
keep in mind there is a minimum and maximum torque on the screws so overstaking is easily done.

most people mangle the BC while staking thinking mo' is bet'a
