264 win mag Sendero?

I have a question about the 264 win mag. Why are the velocities in factory loads seem just average for a magnum rifle? When I say average I mean pushing 140 grain bullets around 3000 feet per second. That's not much different than a 270 or 30-06. Just seems like a lot of wasted powder space compared to a Remington 260 or 6.5x47 Lapua

Just do it. Great round. Plenty of knockdown. Crazy good ballistics.

I'm trying to feed my sendero and vs addiction right now! I am considering doing a 6.5x284 in the future.
