    What's the going rate/decent price? Ruger 10/22 w/ BX-25 mag

I ran across a Ruger 10/22 this afternoon at a pawn shop, but I thought it was a bit overpriced. I figured, brand new, it's a $200 dollar rifle, and the 25 roung Ruger factory mag that was with it would be about $25 bucks. Now, I'm talking pre-craze prices here, but as I understand it, those prices are starting to come back to normal some, right? The rifle is listed on Academy's website at $200, and 25 round mags (although not Ruger branded mags) are at $25. I've found the factory mags, in stock, online for $30. This rifle also came with a Game Winner 3-9x32 scope which I give zero value, but in the interest of being nice, I figured $25 was fair. Being a used gun with some scratches, no factory 10 round mag, etc, I figured $200 was fair. I offered $200 and the guy laughed and said that wasn't even close. I said, "Okay, I figured you'd balk at that, you have a counter offer?" He came down to $265, from the original marked price of $275. I told him that it was a $200 rifle brand new, to which he replied, "but they don't come with a 25 round mag new." I said, "You're right, and I'm adding $25 to what I would normally offer for this gun, being used and all, as that's about what a new 25 round mag runs." He laughed and said that you can't find that magazine anywhere for under $75! At that point, I just said, "Okay, I guess we can't make a deal then, but if you can't find that mag for under $75 today, you're not looking very hard. See you later."

Am I way off base here? I mean, I know that just because Academy has it on their website doesn't mean that it's in stock, but I've been hearing of a lot of rifles coming back around lately, so I'm sure it will be available before too long, and Ruger factory mags are available today online for $25-30 bucks. I would have gone to $225 on the whole outfit, considering it did have a cheap scope, but the guy didn't seem to want to work in real time figures to me, not to mention he was rude, so I left. What say you? Would you have paid $275, or even $265 for a used, scratched, unproven 10/22 w/ BX-25 mag and a Game Winner scope?

I'd personally buy new unless it was a clean older model with metal trigger guard. You'll find a new one in the exact flavor you want soon enough if you shop alittle. I've been seeing alot of them at Academy and I've recently been seeing alot of the take down versions.

just wait another month, the market is going to be flooded when the flippers can't unload their spoils because everything is back on the shelf at regular prices...and don't buy it from them at regular prices...make them eat it or sell it to you cheaper than retail...

well, i picked up a bx25 mag at field and streams in san angelo a couple weeks ago for $25-30.... a new 10/22 IS 199-210.... brand new. and yes, i have seen them in stock often lately at academy. i dont think $200 was a horrible offer, but i wouldnt have sold it to you for that either lol. i think $250 would be a good price OTD for a 10/22 in good shape, with the 25 round mag, and a scope and rings etc. IF it was in good shape.

you must remember, people pay stupid prices for the dumbest crap right now. it makes me mad actually lol. i mean, folks are buying model 700 remington adls for over $500 when you can get them at academy for $379 all day.... and on and on drives me nuts. stupid people cause these prices. a used 10/22 should be $150 in decent shape, but no....

Thanks, I didn't think I was walking out on a good deal, but then again, I didn't think about the scope mount and rings, didn't even look at them actually, and I don't know anything about the metal trigger guard vs plastic! I forgot that the 10/22's don't have the milled in dovetails like so many .22's do. So, that's a dollar adder there, although I don't know how much those bases and rings run. Again, the scope wasn't worth the price of the plastic bubble pack it came out of, but the base and rings might have had at least a small value to them. I may go back in a week or so and if it's still there, offer him $200 again and see where it goes.

Id said he could keep the scope and Mag...

I'd buy my own scope and bx-25 for 31.95 and leave him with the stuff I'd have to ship to someone else later...

Id offer 200 out the door for a used bare 10/22.

BTW I installed the JARD 10/22 adjustable trigger in mine last night... set it at 1lb 4oz... ITS FREAKING SWEET!!!!

I bought one at academy a couple weeks ago. Passed on a pink one the week before. No reason to get antsy. They'll be back sooner than you think.

The Academy in Round rock has the 10/22 in stock very often now so does the Cedar park store. Also if your not in a big hurry come to Austin and go to GT Distributors they will order you one and give you LE discount.

Anybody have any idea how much of a discount that might be? On their website, the price for a 10/22 is $209, cheaper at Academy.

Sounds like a con to me. I bought 4, 25 round mags strait from ruger for 29.99 each minus 20% from a coupon I had. ordered them right at the beginning of the sandy hook gun craze. Took 3 weeks.
