Red dot zero question

I have a vortex strike fire on my .223 ar. My question was what is the best range to sight it in at? I do a lot of hog hunting with it and I have had 5 yard shots and 205 yard shots. But I want to be able to make consistent groups!

I do 50 yards and 100. Don't notice much of a difference. On my phones app, it says at 50 one inch high at 100, and 2 inches low at 200. For my 55 grain round and my setup. I'd do 100.

100 yard zero the .223 has a unique trajectory. Do a search for Paul Howe 100 yard battle zero he does a great job explaining this set up

If I'm correct, he said to zero you rifle at 36yrds and confirm it at 300yrds.

Amazing........he is a MUCH better shooter than I am. That kind of accuracy at 300+ yrds out of a 16" AR/M4 with no magnification and a red dot reticule.

I am doing good at 100yrds with that same set up.

I like a 50yd zero and confirm it at 100yds. That will do anything I need it to out to 300yds.
