    TC Encore Anyone?

So, I know we all cringed at the over-saturation of TC sponsored hunting shows on outdoor channel... but I really like the look and feel of the wood/blued encores...

Anyone else have trigger-time experience with one?

    Thanks!

i bought one back in 2006 when the craze was getting cranked up. my rifle, a stainless sythetic bull barrel 25/06 has been very good to me. being a reloader, i was able to work up a couple of good loads in the rifle. groups in the 3/4-1" range are the norm. its a great "hunting" rifle. never shot anything over about 220yards but its more than capable.

I have had three and still have not had one thats shot as well as I like. After reading a lot about them on forums accuracy seems to be hit or miss.

Ive had one for about 10 years, they are great guns. My favorite barrel is a custom 17 remington from Bullberry. Its a tack driver it will shoot ragged holes a 300 yards. I also have a 30/221 from bullberry that is very accurate also. My only complaint about it is the trigger can be a bit heavy but a good encore smith can make it better.

I have it in 25-06 with some reloads I made and its a tack driver! Had barrel re-blued with cerakote and this gun will last my years. Absolutely love mine.

Have a Pro Hunter. Sent the action off to Jim Hendershot (recommended by Mike Bellum) it is now set at 1lb 10oz & is smooth as glass. Had a custom barrel made by MGM in 6.5x284 Norma. My groups are excellent & rifle is always been great. I have no complaints with mine. My advise is get the trigger worked.

I have 1, as does my son. I have yet to find a commercially loaded cartridge that will product MOA at 100. Best I could was with Superperformance GMX Hornady's out of my sons 243. I can say this, while they are not the fastest turn around time, their customer service is excellent. I had an issue arise recently, and it took almost 5.5 weeks to return to me, AFTER they had received it. They fixed it, responded to emails/calls a little slower than I liked about what was wrong/timelines, etc. However, the bottom line is its fixed and returned. The 25/06 barrel I have is currently a 1.75MOA with 120gr bullets, but I am going to work on a load for this one too. I do like the versatility and options they provide, and they do stand behind their products, which is important with the amount of money you can potentially wrap up in one.

The only other thing other than my TC that I will hunt with is my bow.

I bought the Encore about ten years ago. I have the 22-250, 270, 300 win mag barrels and love the feel of shooting it.

I have the pistol in .243 and so far using factory ammo the smallest group out of it so far is .86". I really want to get a 7mm-08 barrel.

If you own an encore go check out Mike Bellm's site (especially if you reload).

Great articles and tips on squeezing every drop of accuracy out of these barrels

You might try a lighter bullet in that 25/06. I'm not super well versed on that caliber, but i believe 120gr is one of the heavier loads for it. A lot of TC barrels I've had dealings with had fairly slow twist rates and didn't handle heavy bullets well (or long Barnes bullets either).
