    AR 15 scope help!! Please

Ok, here's my dilemma, tonight I got my scope and mount put on my new Colt 6920. Looks great until I look through the scope. The front sight is blocking the scope picture. Well dang!! What to do? From what I understand the rifle will not function without the from sight. Correct? Click image for larger version

First option... Not the best but the easiest... Get a riser for scope.

Best option... You need a different gas block. It wont have the front sight, but you can use the scope.

I really don't want the scope any higher. What is the best gas block? Does Colt make one?

Dont know if you could get a colt, but you can search Brownells, MidwayUSA or DSG. All you need to know is your barrel profile to order one. Most likely .750

You could find one with a rail so you could still have a flip up front sight.

At this point the best thing to do since you dont want a riser is take it to a gunsmith and have it done right. They will remove the front sight post and replace it with a gas block. As far as brand. Comes down to preference and style. And yes you can do it yoursef. But without the right tools and experience you can screw things up. Nice gun by the way.

I defiantly won't be doing it myself. Will take to a gunsmith. Just want to figure out the best brand. The little research I just did, its shows several different ones, like clamp on?

I bought the Vltor for my colt, but from what I understand most of the low profile blocks will work fine. Mine has set screws, but some are clamp on. If you plan to change the hand guard now that you will be minus the FSB make sure the gas block you go with works for the hand guard you want. Some super slim hand guards like the noveske will not work with all low pro gas blocks from what I understand. Stay with a brand name you recognize and I'd say you will be good to go.

Is it the sight housing that is in the sight picture or just the pin? You might be able just to take the sight pin out and keep the front sight housing on. Just an option.

Good advice above. If you are going with the low-profile front site, you can remove the flip up MBUS rear sight. Make sure that you keep the current gas block so that you can have it installed if you ever sell it.

I have the exact gun by the way. Grab you a magpul MOE+ soft grip to replace the current MOE hard grip and you will love it!

Dont take it to a smith, come on out and I will do it for you and you can help...

Get a .750 Vltor gas block of ebay (one of the best) and it will not break the bank...

As soon as we get it together you can test it on the range..

Wont cost you a dime other than your time.
