Switching Pinned and Welded Muzzle Device?

Can a gunsmith switch out a pinned and welded muzzle device to another muzzle device? I'm guessing they can, but is there any negative effects or anything. The reason for doing it is to use my current suppressor which does not match up with the muzzle device on the gun in question.
    Thanks

Yes they can but it will depend on what the barrel lenght is...two types of weapons have soldered and pinned flashhiders on them...old ban items and 14.5 inch barrels with a long flash hider permanently attached to make it correct lenght.

Worst case, they can cut off the old and replace it with the new...might lose an inch of barrel but that wouldn't really affect the weapon.
