How long is powder good for?

I recently inherited some powder from my F-I-L but I'm sure how good it still is.
Date on the can says '95 so I'm not sure it's still good. I'm guessing not. Any good ideas to get rid of it if it has gone bad? Thanks

Open up the cans. If it's turned reddish brown, clumpy or smells like ammonia time to toss it.

I've got some real old powder and it shoots fine. Just depends how it was stored.

As long as it was properly stored, it should be good. Think about all the old surplus ammo on the market!

We still use some cans from the 70's, unless it was stored in awful conditions its fine.

A lot of the powder that I use to reload my .270 has been reclaimed from battleship naval ammo that was surplused out & repackaged commercially.
So if it's been kept dry & cool, I don't think it has a shelf life.
