    Ammo in College Station

    Just an FYI.

Was able to buy a couple of boxes of Hornady 25-06 at 117 gr, ballistic tip today and two boxes of .22LR both at Academy. Wife had to come by (she happened to be close) and pick up one of the .22 as they limited it to one 50 ct box per customer.

Gander had 7.62? in 145 gr I believe. 20 ct boxes I assume as I'm not familiar with buying this ammo. They had quite a bit of it too.

Wow. .22lr in CS, haven't seen that in a while. .223 etc has been hit and miss but .22 has been out of the question.

Hopefully .22 will start showing up more.

Anyone know if a sst point on the 25-06 is going to shoot much different than a lead point on the Federal 117 gr?

I picked up 1000 (10x 100 round boxes) CCI Mini Mag .22 last week at Gander. It's coming in you just have to be on it as soon as it does come in or you'll miss out because everyone wants/needs it.

It quite possibly would. I shot both the 117gr SST and the BTSP from Hornady, with a 1.5" difference (high and right) going from the BTSP to the SST out of my Tikka. I have since not been able to find the BTSP, so I am down to my last 2 boxes of SST's before I begin reloading them. Great find on both btw.

I looked at the ballistics on the two boxes and they are different. The sst are faster according to what's on the box. May try to make a trade with someone for Federal Premium STBT in 117 gr. If you run across a couple and want to make a trade, let me know.

Michael the guy behind the gun counter told me they get it in on Thursday and there is usually a line half way down the building when they open at 8 AM. He told me he orders his online.

Academy had more ammo today, no .22 however. I almost picked up some more 25-06 that has the same bullet as I already have but the ballistics shown on the box was different. I now have the info in my phone so I can readily compare.

They had .308 at the counter which I think means one box per customer. They had quite a bit of it.

I talked to a guy in there that said he had been to Independence Firearms west of town and they told him things were starting to ease and should start getting back to normal though it will probably take longer than last time.
