I'm thinking about adding these carpet squares to all or half of it. Any thoughts on it?

Dont know if I would do the carpet squares. The little loops of fabric will catch everything, primers. Plus if you spill anything it would be hard to get up.

I actually built mine with a fake granite counter top from home depot. Had the back splash so nothing would roll off the back.

Yours looks great as it sits.

Yeah that was my concern as well.

That fake granite isn't a bad idea.... may have to look into that

I have the same top (fake granite) and I like it quite a bit. You might run into an issue mounting presses with the lip of the counter. I can show you what I mean later this afternoon. Other than a different top I think you have a pretty good setup. When I mounted my countertop I used liquid nails and then screwed in in from underneath. It aint going anywhere

I am in the process of adding shelves and just more storage. Never enough room.

My bench top is MDF, 2 thicknesses, on an old drafting table.

One thing I recommend--a set of shelves with sliding doors across the back of the bench--and if you make the doors of pegboard, you can hang stuff like reloading trays and powder funnels on them-

Dont use carpet or any powder trapping top, in case something ignites. That will definitely cause a bigger issue than a primer popping! The ammo should be in containers protecting it from moisture, even though it is cool to look at. Definitely need shelving or cabinets for storage. Check out craigs list for free or cheap used from remodels.

Get more shelves and an old fridge that doesn't work. That way you can put your powder and primers in it with a dehumidifier to protect them from moisture.

Good point on the carpet. That can't end well

Those boxes are just empties. All loaded ammo gets stored in 50cal ammo cans indoors. As is my primers and powder.

That's what I used to have but the boss lady wouldn't let me keep it in the move.

I need a mini fridge that doesn't work!

Or you can just not plug it in

Looks almost exactly like my bench except for the desk at the end. I used a double stack of surplus draft print drawers and extended the plywood top over it. I added small vice to the corner and mounted some of my potable I don't use a lot to a wood block, ie rifle case trimmer. I can store out of the way and clamp in vice when needed.

I need a better storage method for spent brass. I have everyone I know bringing it to me. All different calibers and headstamps. Hard to keep sorted. Also have to figure somewhere to mount bullet sizer.

Food saver bags work just fine.
