    remove ingraving

Need a little help from the GS. I have a rem 870 that has been engraved with a name on the receiver and I want to remove it or cover it, any ideas. And no it's not an ex wife or anything. Thanks Kevin

Not sure how if you're not going to also refinish... but I know it can be done by filling in the engraving with solder, prior to Duracote or similar.

I have the same issue on my 700. I was thinking of dremel smooth and then Bondo or JBWeld to fill in. I would then Cerakote the action.

I like the bondo idea, nothing more redneck than bondo on a shotgun. I'm sure I'll have to refinish it. I just did my old mossberg with aluma-hide 2 and it turned out pretty good. It would have to be filled in somehow prior to refinish. Thanks Kevin

I would not use a dremel. No way on nearth it would be flat. Use sand paper on small wooden square stock, feather the ends.

I have seen some actions that where cerecoated that they used Devcon titanium epoxy to fill in, then sand area smooth. That was a the base of it anyways.

this can alter your temper of the metal so be very careful can also warp your action.
