Scored a little today at Cabelas

They had Varget (I bought two one lb canisters), some shot (25lbs of 7 1/2), and some 209 primers (two 100 count packs), and the #6 shellholder I have needed for a while. Also bought a case of 7 1/2 target 12 gauge.

No .22 at all. They said it's been a while since they have seen any. So I'm back by the shoe department and a guy is checking out a pair of boots. Laughing, he pulls out a 100 count box of CCI Mini Mags from inside one of the boots and asks the sales associate if all boots come with ammo. They just stick the box on the top of a counter. So I asked if they wanted it, and when everyone said no, I snagged it. It ain't much - but it's better than nothing.

    All the best,
    Glenn

Nice. Powderhorn had about 9 or so 1lb containers of Varget today. Just put on the shelf.

I was in there a couple of weeks ago and the used gun shelves were the barest I've ever seen.

No one is trading guns in really. They also started putting the nicer used ones behind the counter. They did have a pretty good inventory today, some new stuff. A break down .357 Ruger, etc. Even hired 2 more people so they can catch up on ordering inventory.

I was surprised how much things had slowed down when I arrived yesterday. The last time I was there (February), it was a madhouse. People packed the isles, especially the ammo isles. Shelves picked clean in certain areas. Yesterday... Not nearly as crowded, and the ammo shelves were relatively stocked - but with less popular ammo.

I think they got tired of empty looking shelves. For example, out of about a dozen pegs for bags of rifle brass, only one had bags on it in February - .243. Yesterday, all of the pegs were FULL.... of .243 brass. If you reload .243, there were a lot of bullets and brass available. Others... Not so much.

I wouldn't have guessed that .357 mag was still so popular. No brass. Only cast lead bullets available. No loaded ammo.

I feel bad for some of the guys that work in that area. Customers take the ammo shortage out on them. They are bombarded with ****** off customers every day. That would get old quick.

Well... Headed back over there this morning for day 2. Anyone around SA need me to check availability of something / pick something up?

            All the best,
            Glenn

I stopped by the Ft. Worth store today for a new vacuum packer but went straight to the ammo shelves 1st. There was some variety but no 9mm. But down on the bottom were 20 boxes of PMC .45 in Bronze. So I snagged 3 boxes, a box of Rem .41Mag @ 54.99 each (50cnt), and a box of .44 mag Barnes. Went and got the vacuum packer and decided I didn't need the .41 at $55. So I went back to put the .44 and .41 back, and all the .45 was gone . But 20 boxes of PMC Bronze 9mm had suddenly appeared on the top shelf . So I snagged two boxes of that too . I saw TBHer "Perk" there and we were standing there talking and watching the 9mm go. It took all of 7 minutes . I then went an picked up some .41 brass and some 240gr .44 XTP projectiles. Now I've got just enough reloading supplies to cover the .41 and .44 stuff .
