What's the deal with all the .17HMR NON-LEAD ammo...?

Last week our Academy finally got some normal Winchester .17 grain HMR ammo in...before that, for the last few weeks, they had piles of this new .15 or .15 grain non-leaded stuff. All I've heard is that it doesn't fly right, not accurate, etc...so how come it's showing up in droves? Because there's not much demand for it? ;-)

Anyone got a bead on this thing?

My guess is they made that ammo specifically for people in lead free zones.That's just what I always figured but I don't know that for a fact.

It's 2 grains less than normal... I can't see it patterning that badly out of a screamer like the 17 hmr. I've been spreading that rumor though, so when I go to academy I can buy 3-10 boxes.

But I havent shot any yet. Maybe some one who has will chime in, as I have loved picking it up here lately.
