    243 reload help

Trying to work up a load for my wife. Rifle shoots the factory 100 gr. Hornady custom bullets well, so for reloading I started with 100 gr Nosler partition's. using H4350 and H4831 sc and can't get better than 1.75 moa. Still have a few of the Partitions so what other powder would you recommend? And also wanting to try some other bullets still in the Nosler family, thinking about the 95 gr Ballistic tip. What are yalls thoughts?

Id try the 90gr Nosler Accubond over the Ballistic Tip. Maybe try some of the Alliant powders, Reloader 17 and 19 or even 22

I use reloader 22 with 100gr partitions. Get about 3/4" groups. Not accuracy like a match bullet but great for a hard hitting hunting bullet.

I would be happy with .75 group.

That reloader 22 is pretty temp sensitive. I'd stay away from it.

But I must ask, if the hornady bullets performed well, why did you buy noslers? Just curious. I have no other input as I never shoot my 243s much

Try changing the seating depth if you have room.

X2 it may not be your powder or bullets, it might just be your seating depth.

I have Sako forester in .243. I shoot 100 Sierra pro hunters. .024" of the lands. Over 41.5 gr of IMR4350. Five shots @ 100yds I can cover with a dime.
Setting depth is everything with this rifle. Factory ammo shoots good. Around 1.5" hand loads shoot max .75".

I'm watching this as I'm about to start reloading for a custom 243.

The reading I've done says the 85 grain stuff is supposed to be the shiite. I have some 95 grain Berger VLDs I'm gonna try as well.

You will have to play with your seating deapth to get the most of your hand loads. Are you using the same brand of brass? Diffrent brand of brass could make a slight change as well.

Yep same brand of brass, and I am using the same seating depth as the factory loads that shoot 1.25 moa. Plan was to start there, find a good load similar to the factory and then start playing with depth and tweaking little things. But can't get there.
