    Long range scopes

What's a good size scope for long range shots. Goin on a 30.06 I'm looking to do five to seven hundred yard shots. Just for fun or possibly go on a hunt with it eventually.

    Price range?
SWFA SS are great for the price and the turrets track true.
There was a great write up on them on tbh maybe last week
10x42's are nice or go with adj power

A 30.06 drops like a rock after 500 yards btw... Not undo able but should be noted.

What's your price range? I love spending OTHER people's theoretical money.

Yeap. Price range is the biggest factor here.

I mounted the Nightforce NXS 8-32×56 on mine and love it. I also built mine for long distance shooting.

The only scope you will find for that price that is quality with turrets is the swfa ss...

Look at Nikon. The higher magnification models come with interchangeable turrets including exposed target turrets. The usual suspects like Nightforce, Schmidt und Bender, US Optics, IOR Valdada are well beyond that price range.

Nikon buckmaster 6x18x40 with BDC will do the job for around $350. It comes with a extra set of tactical turrets. I own Leupold, Leupold Mark 4s, and that scope has clean glass just like $1,000 scopes.. It will do what you need for that 0-6.

You can probably step off into an older used not abused Leupold VX-III or Vari X-III for 500. Shoot for a 6.5-20x50... But more than likely the 4.5-14x50 will be in your price range. Either will definitely do what you want.

I love my leupold's! However I've been very impressed with the newer nikon scopes for the money. If possible save a little longer and spend the extra. You won't be disappointed. Better glass helps alot shooting long distance.

I went through this a few weeks back and settled on a Millett LRS. Don't know much about them, but most of the reviews were great. Should be receiving it in the mail tomorrow.

Take coach ws advice and look for a used leupold. They can be had for $500 and under. Then if you desire upgraded turrets or reticle send it to leupold and they will install them reasonably priced. The quote I got was $125 for m1 turrets and about the same for the TMR reticle. And they told me they are finally working on an MOA reticle!!!! Turn around time is 2-3 weeks.
