    2 1911 questions...

I've held off as long as I could, but it looks like I might be stepping into the 1911 game, fellas...

    1. I have a guy wanting to trade his full size Citadel 1911 for a 9mm. I have a newer model S&W Sigma 9, with about 500 rounds (50 SD, 450 fmj) of ammo that I've offered him and he's interested. His package is the gun, 20 rounds of SD ammo and 100 rds fmj. We're going to meet next week to shoot each other's guns and decide if it's a deal. Does this sound like a good deal for me? Trading up? Or about equal value, just moving to a different caliber?

    2. Are 1911 mags interchangeable? I've done a little research and it seems that lots of problems of 1911 FTF/FTE is caused by cheap mags, so Wilson or Chip McCormick mags are suggested, but will they fit any 1911? Or any full-size 1911? Or do you have to buy a mag built specifically for your model gun, like pretty much any other gun?

Thanks for letting me ask these newb questions, and go easy on me. I'm not that far into the gun ownership stage of my life, only a few years' worth so far, but I'm trying!! Haven't had that awful boat accident where I lost em all yet

Honestly, I can't answer #1 all that well.

However #2. Yes they are interchangeable and you are correct, problems are caused by cheap mags. Get Wilson Combat Mags. End of story, full stop.

I am not sure how much your S&W is worth but 500 rounds of ammo is worth about $200 these days at least. A citadel 1911 new goes for under $500 so i would assume your getting the slightly shorter end of the stick on this deal. I would have him throw in $100 to even it up if i were you.

And yes wilson mags all the way.

Gun to gun, no ammo, that would be a good trade assuming both guns are in similar condition.

mags only diff from size pistol ,, compact will not fit the comander or the full size 5" so just make sure the mags are for what ever size 1911 you are getting .. i went shooting one time with the wife and guess what i brought the compact mags so no shooting . i think gun for gun the ammo well thats on you ..

Like stated, gun for gun is pretty even, ammo not so much. And mags are just like stated. Don't go cheap.
