    1. I was issued an ar for work and it had an eotech holographic I need tips on how to use one never used a holographic sight before

    2. I'm looking for an inexpensive 4-12 (or similar over 10x) scope to put on it in case I hate the holographic any recommendations?

if you're stuck with the eotech, make sure you have plenty of spare batteries.

If you're using an AR for work, personally, Id use a 1x4 or 1x6 varable scope.

If you don't like the Eotech you're going to replace it with a 4-12x scope? You realize those two are used for entirely different things?

The Eotech is easy. Just zero it at 25 yards and hold on target out to 200.

But what are you going to use the rifle for? Don't put a 4-12x scope on it and expect to do room entry or anything else dynamic. There's a term for what will result, but it's not appropriate for this forum.

This for sure! Most good scope a 1x magnification can be shot with both eye open.

Both eyes open. Eotechs are pretty dang solid. Batteries only last 5-600 hours (depending on model).

Btw 50 yard zero is a 200 zero and a little over an inch high at 100.

I understand the uses of the scope just never put one on an AR so wondering what would be a good one for an AR some of the guys put scopes on theirs not intending to use it for room entry's I work out in the country want to be able to see and reach out and touch something if need be

Yep. I bought my first EOTech last year, it's pure black magic! When you zero at 50, it's is as simple as point and shoot. The round goes wherever the red dot is pointed.
They are great sights. I put my EOTech and a flip-over 3x magnifier on a LaRue QD mount, works like a charm.

Look at the vortex PST 1-4x if ur set on buying a scope, high quality glass at a reasonable price. For patrol an EoTech is the way to go IMO. Been using one for six years.

                        Don't mount it backwards!

May want to try out a 3x magnifier for the eotech... It may be a good compromise!
