What is your favorite trigger and why

I want to replace the X-Mark trigger in my Remington 700 VTR. Have been told that Shilen is the best but thought I would ask everyone here. Please tell me what you like and why. I want a target rifle that I can carry hunting.
I am leaning toward Shilen because I am only a few miles from his shop but am open to all opinions.

I went through the same process a few months back. After perusing a number of forums and talking to friends, I narrowed it done to Jewel and Timney. The general opinions were that the Jewel trigger was probably the best but had issues when it got dirty. The Timney works better in hunting applications but couldn't be set as light and has a wide trigger. I ended up with the Timney for my application and I'm pretty happy with it. Installation was more complicated than I expected.

I know you're looking at the Shilen but I didn't find that it was as popular where I was researching so didn't pursue it very far.

    Hope this helps...

Same experience I had! I wanted a trigger for my 300 police that had a 40x trigger which is very good as well. I looked at Timney and jewel and heard a lot of problems with jewels when there dirty. My guns get used a lot and get sandy. So I got the Timney straight trigger and have been nothing but happy.

Now when I get time I'm gunna get the 40x trigger put back together and set because I don think it was set right when I got it because it never tuned in right. Then it's going in my 22-250 that has a x-mark that's been tuned and isn't bad.

I normally tune my own 700 triggers but there is no comparison to using a jewell...everyone should try a 1.5oz BR trigger pull sometime.

I have Jewell triggers in all of my Remington rifles. I have had no problems with dirt in my triggers and I'm not the kindest to them during hunting season.

It is by far the finest trigger I have ever shot.

I have a Shilen and a Jewel in two of my Remingtons. Both are very good but I think the Jewel slightly edges out the Shilen.

Jewell has been the best I've had and still have and will have lol.

I own a timney too and it's nice. But not a Jewell.

I have shot a shilen and it was much nicer than the timney but I prefer the Jewell still!!

I've got a timney on my .22-250. 17 oz. I love it. I've shot a bench gun with a 1oz shilen that was just crazy

I've got a dozen + Jewell triggers ranging from 2 ozs. to 12 ozs.

Jewell, shilen, or timney. Can't go wrong.

Jewell would be my first choice.
