I don't know where you are to put yourself in that situation, but I avoid areas and situation that might put me at risk. I know some will call me a sissy or say what's the point of carrying if you aren't going to use it. I take the "avoidance is key" approach to situations. I'll go out of my way to avoid areas and situtation that could put me at risk. Carrying a firearm for protection is for when all other tactics have failed. I don't see me getting held up at gunpoint in the mall or in a populated area in broad daylight. Isolated areas at night and such are where that usually happens. I avoid those areas to keep myself out of those situations if at all possible.

I am very capable with a firearm. I'm not an expect, but I've done A LOT of shooting in my life. I'm still not going to test my abilities against a gun already pointed at me until they give me reason to.
I agree with almost everything you're saying but I know from experience that cooperation doesn't always mean you don't get shot. How many times do you see the gas station clerk get shot after they give the thief the money? A lot, and thats while they know they're on camera. Imagine what they would do in a parking lot with no one around.

Your ideas about staying out of places that are in bad areas are good, but the hood rats roll into the suburbs too. Lets PM if you want to talk about it further, I don't want to litter the OP's thread with these what if's when he wants to talk about holsters

      Probably my favorite "holsters".

Versacarry® is one of the world's smallest concealed carry holsters. Our ZeroBulk Holster® design fits most guns and is ideal for deep concealment and comfort.

I'm hoping they design one with a little forward or adjustable cant.

As for holsters, I'm not a fan of IWB tuckers. I like an IWB that I can pull a shirt, jacket or other clothing over. I will carry almost anywhere on my waist since I have mulitple holsters to accommodate any carry position. Find a holster and position that works for you and stick with it.

In a vehicle, I typically will remove my pistol and tuck it between the driver seat and center seat. It sits nicely there and is easily accessable versus on me somewhere and me strapped in with a seat belt.

You are not a "sissy" at all. I do think that you should know that, to most criminals who use a gun, your life means absolutely nothing to them. They have already decided that killing you is perfectly fine if necessary, and they may have already decided to kill you regardless. They don't think rationally like you or I. You have to be ready for escalation....they already are.

a sales guy at cheaper than dirt showed me several models / designs.

he also recommended the tactical type pants / shorts made by 5.11

i can't see me buying a new wardrobe for every day of the week, but i guess it's an option.
anybody ever worn any of these as a substitute ?

Here is my tuck holster. The belt clip is connected to a leather strap. The strap is connected to the bottom of the holster with stitching and the brass screw. It allows you to tuck your shirt between the holster and clip. Very comfortable and concealable.

                        I wear at 4 o'clock with undershirt.
