Easiest Way To Run A Gun Serial To See If It's Stolen?

I might have an opportunity today to buy a gun that was found in a storage unit sale.

What is the quickest/easiest way to be sure it's not stolen?

    Is there an online database?

Call local PD and ask them to run the serial number for you. There is no public access to a database that shows any police reports filed for stolen guns.

Same...no public access...Call local PD and explain to the them the circumstances and see if they will run the numbers prior to purchase...

Perhaps someone that passed away... Just a thought.

Does not make them a nut, though.

If you call the local PD they might want to send out an officer to "assist" you. Thats what happened when I called Harris County Sheriff.

Passed away, or an old guy who's memory has tanked.
