I use Missouri and Friendswood. Both have done well for me and I've loaded and shot thousands of thiers. Pretty cheap prices too.

But think how much I can save when I cast my own!

so, doing the math I would only save $1.00 per box by buying the lead from Missouribullet.com at $2.07 per pound (not including shipping). Not cost effective enough for me to pour my own. I'm guessing that some of you have cheaper sources for lead.

        I can get free lead

So I'm only out the cost of my equiptment, time, and maybe some other materials if I need to adjust the hardness.

Buddy of mine recently bought 2 100lb buckets of wheel weights for $30 from a tire shop. I wouldn't even entertain the thought of over $2 a lb.

              now that sounds cost effective.

If melting wheel weights, what additives if any are needed?

No additives needed for wheel weights.

One other little tidbit. Don't use ball powders with cast bullet reloads. It tends to melt the bases a little and can cause leading of the barrel. I prefer the flake powders like Red Dor, Unique and such. A really good powder for magnum cast reloads is Blue Dot.
