Remington model 700 ??

I have a question for the gun folks on here. My dad has a Remington 700 BDL in 25-06 with a magazine. All the other 700's we have are all with the hinged plate. My question is why is this one different? I tried looking on the interwebs for info before I posted this question but came up empty handed. Is there anything special or fancy about this rifle? Thanks in advance.

My 700 has a hinged plate, from what I have researched, the ones with the hinged plate had an option to add a detachable magazine, could be wrong

They made several calibers with a detachable mag. Still making them.

They have the ADL, blind magazine....BDL, hinged floor plate and a detachable box magazine. My Remington LTR in 308 has the box mag. I'm not really a fan of it. I prefer the BDL configuration.
