I havent found out enough into on that stainless steel media. I have heard its good, on several different forums. I'm sure it works well. Havent seen a price yet either on it.
Oh, I don't have a progressive press yet either. It will never end.
About $250 with the rock tumbler and media and lemi shine.
good god thats expensive. My way does fine lol. vibratory tumber with white rice, then sonic cleaner... I dont need my brass polished like military brass!! As long as it's clean.
Honestly the tumblers don't do much to get the cases clean. They're really more for shine. look into ultrasonic cleaners. I got mine at harbors freight for $80.
Here is what I use when I want to restore brass to like new conditions.
I start by de-priming and sizing. This will keep your solution much much cleaner and you'll get more use out of it.
Then I load them in the ultrasonic cleaner. Not too much no more than 2 cases on top of eachother. It works best if it's not overloaded.
Then I add my solution. It consists of:
1-2 vinegar-water ratio with a shotglass or two full of lemon juice.
I run that solution for 480sec with heater on. 3 times stiring the brass between sessions. Then I run it 1 time without the heater.
Then I drain the solution and run the brass through cool water with about 1/4cup of baking soda. This helps neutralize the acid in the lemon juice and vinegar. Run this twice with heater off.
You can use the solutions for several batches of brass without having to change it.
After I'm done with the sonic cleaner I toss them into my tumbler with fine walnut media a little bit of mineral spirits and a capful of NuFinish car polish. I add the spirits and car polish after about 3-4 batches of brass. leave the brass in the tumbler for about 1 hour or till your next batch of brass is done in the sonic cleaner.
The result is super clean, super shinny brass. It really looks factory new. a dozen or so out of every 1-200 won't quite clean up like I want them to but that's fine with me. I keep those and reload them for myself. The rest I usually sell to my buddies that want high quality used brass.
I normally don't mess with cleaning pistol cases, unless it's for somebody else. Rifle cases I like to be REALLY clean
I pop out primers first then tumble... then sonic clean.. then resize... keeps my dies much cleaner. If you size first then tumble or sonic clean the brass you add stress and hardening to the brass.

if you go to www.snipershide.com forum and go to reloading the first 8 threads about reloading is pretty much what I'm doing. Just trying to get to the point where I'm kicking out true bench rest grade/long range grade rounds for myself.
I still have 4 presses I haven't even bolted to my bench yet. Gotta build a bigger one first. I've got a list a mile long of things I need (ok ok want is more like it ) I've got at least 1k in my stuff as it stands right now. Still so much more to go! I want to see some pics!

I mounted a receiver tube (as in trailer hitch tube) under my bench. Then have my single stage presses mounted on 2" square tubing. The hitch tube has some 1/2" set screws in from two directions to take up the slack between the receiver tube and 2" tubing. I can swap things around when needed.

You have any photos of your operation you can post?

The tumbler is the expensive part. I'm trying to find a chepwr tumbler. That's watertight. U only have to by the stainless media once and ur done. Just refresh ur water and Lemi shine solution so often

I've heard that the stainless media is the shizzle. I'm not sure I need it quite yet. I'm just gonna stick with my ultrasonic cleaner and tumbler. But then again I said I'd never consider a sonic cleaner
I'll get one eventually but I'm gonna keep fighting it for now lol
