Vortex DB vs Leupold VXII vs Nikon PS Low Power Variables

Started doing some research to scope my sons gun. I have narrowed down to a Leupold VX-II 2-7, Vortex Diamondback 1.75-5 or new Nikon ProStaff 2-7. We already have the 4 Vortex Scopes (1 Viper, 3 DB's) and love them all. Have never had a Leupold VXII, and have 2 Nikon Buckmasters. Looking through the ProStaff's at a couple retailers, I was actually pretty impressed with how clear they were around the edges. I have only sighted in a Leupold VX1, and didn't like the non-click turrets, but liked the optics just fine. Who has any of the new ProStaff scopes, and how have they held up in the short time they have been out-optics clear in am/pm low light? I am sure that the Leupold's will get good reviews, but am always open to pro's/con's. I would love to say money is no object, but we all know for some of us that is just no the case. I'd like to stay in the $250 and under range, with the objective size 32-36mm, and power range no larger than 7x. Its a 44 magnum Ruger Deerfield that the scope is going on, so its not a long range gun by any means. 100yd max would be my guestimate

Stay with what you like. But if you change, I would go leupold.

Looks like I'll be calling Vortex while visiting WI next week

I have experienced all three over time. But now all my rifles are topped off with Leupold.

I have several nikons and several leupolds.

For my hunting rigs I use the nikons, mostly prostaffs. I find them to be excellent for there sticker price. I like you was shocked at how clear the glass is for the price range. I have ran some through everything you could imagine on an ar with flawless performance. Go with the 50mm for maximum performance.

You shouldn't be disappointed with any of the above mentioned.

I have a 2-7x Prostaff that, until recently, was mounted on a Marlin 30-30. Really liked the clarity, comparable to a couple of Monarchs that I own. Sold the gun without the scope, am planning on mounting it on a .22 in the near future. Love the quality for the price, only thing I'm not happy about is the turret covers are plastic, but they work well enough.
