    Rifle Build questions

I am looking to start building a custom rifle in the near future. I already have the barrel, action and muzzle brake picked out. I'm looking at a bergarra barrel, a Stiller tactical action, and Vais Arms muzzle brake. Am I on the right track so far?? My main question is the stock. Ive been researching a bit and I found a stock that I fell in love with. Its the MDT TAC21 stock. I like the look the free floating barrel and the interchangeable buttstock and pistol grip. Have any of you gun guru's had any experience with this stock? any input would be appreciated!

Says it is built for Remington S/A. Is the action you are getting modeled after a Remington?
Any custom rifle I would think you would want it free floated anyway so that should not be a deciding factor. Interesting looking chassis. It is all what you want in a custom gun. You will get fifty different opinions on what you should do. Do what you want!

Any reason you are choosing the Begara barrel?

I know they are popular on the single shot guns, but not used regularly on bolt guns that I am aware.

Yes stillers actions will fit anything a rem 700 will.

I agree with the captain. The joy of building a custom gun is do it like you want.

I'm putting a JP full size break on my 10/22. Why ....... because it's cool to me!

I've heard good things about then but never tried one. I'm new to the gun buiding scene so school me if I'm going down the wrong direction. I absolutely love stiller actions. I got to shoot a buddy's custom rem 700 .308 with a stiller tactical, and it was absolutely glorious.

Just because I researched it all and almost built one... your basically looking at a tube gun design here... there are much better chassis out there than this one... and for this price you may as well save a little more and buy top of the line if you want to build this tube style rifle... look at Gary Eliseo chassis systems... the repeater style is probably what you'd like. These are much more solid platforms than what your looking at..... they do however use a little different action than standard action. All my opinion..

Krieger or mcgowan barrel. i think you are trying to skimp a little on the barrel.

Krieger seems to be pretty popular. I've never heard of them so I don't know what is so great about them. Can someone please explain?

Jerry's action - Stiller , is a very attractive looking action. If you drop it in the chassis system you pictured, you won't be able to admire the action or see it's aesthetic looks.

the chassis you posted above just looks "ok" , nothing spectacular that catches my eye . the entire action body will be covered up

I'd suggest a McRees chassis as you can get it in 100's of configurations and colors. A "folder" would look BA . this option allows you to see the entire barrelled action, yet it's still in a machined chassis sytem

                        see link and pics below

That sir is a sexy rifle. I definitely agree with your point on covering up the action. I like the look of that chassis system and the folder would definitely be a sick option. If im gonna put the money into a stiller action I would like to be able to admire it

Cajun Blake as always has great ideas and the sweetest pics to back it up. He needs to just come to Houston and open a gun building and shooting school to go along with the seasoning store.
