iPhone varmint call

I was out hog Hunting with my boys tonight and the coyotes were really close. So I whipped out my phone and turned on my varmint call app. 20 seconds later the coyotes were on top of us. They came in so fast we were not expecting it and didn't get a shot off.

Has anyone else had success using this app?

you can buy a small extrnal speaker that can make the sound louder.

I used this one the other night at work. Didn't have much success with the rabbit distress but when I switched to the group howl they came on a string but hung up just out of sight.

They don't need a lot of volume to hear. I howled one howl at a coyote 300yds away pretty softly. Down a sendero and it turned looked, then started pacing towards me. Dropped it at 200yds. About the only luck but I howled about the volume of soft talk and it picked it up (or at least my perception is that it heard me as it turned 90° and started a new direction).

We are going to turn this into a live hunt. Got set up again tonight. I have my boys about 30 yard up the trail and I'm going to try and call one pass them.

Well I called the Coyote in again tonight. It came up to me soon as I turn the call on, but stopped about 40 yard short.
