Casey, the thumbhole stock version is sweet that savage makes!!!! I'd be happy with that too though. I've been wanting a 17. Good call

I've shot the thumbhole model and it's nice, but I'll get what I need out of this one. The thumbhole model is even more difficult to find than the one I bought.

I have the same rifle but with a black synthetic stock. It's a SWEET gun! I have a leupold vx 2 3-9 on mine
