I've heard several people say lately that the gun buying frenzy is starting to slow down and AR prices are coming back down slowly. I have noticed AR's sitting on shelves....even late in the day at decent price points, and ammo is becoming more available as well. With that said, when will we be able to find primers, powder and bullets again? I think I'm set for a little while longer, but it will run out eventually, so how much conservation should I be practicing? Will we be able to buy components again in a month or so? Six months? What are your estimates?

No announcement yet.
So, this frenzy is supposedly dying down, but when will I start seeing what I need?

I need to start reloading... I just dropped some $ on gunbroker for some ammo. I get home from overseas the end of this week and wanted to get some range time. I asked buddies back home and said it's still hard to find ammo still. I decided to buy on GB.com instead of wasting time searching store to store when i get back...

I thought it was dying but Sportsman's Guide has backorder dates on some ammo for January 2014!!! You have got to be kidding me!!!
Cabela's only has .17 caliber for rimfire and isn't showing any .22 or .22Mag. Earlier this year the y had it on their webpage.
It will eventually doe down. How much are people going to hoard?

I believe it is . I was at the Sackett Gun show yesterday and saw lots of AR's with normal prices . I picked up a barrel , upper and everything but the gas tube . All for 300.00 bucks . It's a DPMS but I am happy with it .
I sold my 55.6 just before the craz started . Now I feel better that I have it back . Just need a lower but I will use the one on my .300Blk .
If anyone has a gas tube thay will part with send me a pm .

If you guys remember in 08 when Obama was elected gun sells went up and suppliers got behind. It took them until the first of 2012 to catch up on orders.
That was nothing like this go around. I work part time in a gun shop. One of our wholesalers last week only had one pistol in stock out of thousands of pistol make and models. Literally everything else was gone in the pistol category.
The ar craze seems to be settling but a lot of that is due to people tired of being scalped for a gun. The ammo however is a different story. It was difficult before this crap to find reasonably priced bulk 556 in stock. I figure it will stay like this for sometime.
Not saying this to scare. I am as ****** off as the next guy. I had to pay a stupid price this weekend just to get some sub 22 rounds to run through my suppressor. This blows. I hope I'm wrong.

Reloading supplies is what's on my list and I'm in for the long haul on that. I have started buying a box here and there when I see ammo that I want.
I still think there will be a larger price drop on the firearms once stores get their stock back and the panic buyers start flooding the market with their safe queens.
