Any winchester model 70 pre 64 questions

Looking at picking up a pre 64 model 70. The serial number leads me to believe it was built in 1959. However a few thing are throwing me off. The action is matte black and the barrel is blued. The bolt is chrome. The bolt knob. Seems to have been customized... The wood is awesome, but I can't figure out the details on this rifle! Please help! Click image for larger version

Stock and bolt are custom. Sometimes the bolt would hit a low mounted scope, so people had them turned down. Looks great but not from the factory that way. What caliber?

Plug the serial number here for the year it was built.

for sure not a factory gun, if your wanting a collectors gun, pass on it.

Bolt work is on the bottom of the bolt. It's a 270. What's a fair price ya think?

Fair price is what you feel comfortable paying....it is a custom rifle ,built on a pre 64 winchester action.....and should be valued that way...

exactly.... action is worth 400-600 depending on condition. the rest is only worth what a guy will pay because its a pretty niche market.

He want 500. I like the rifle, and I need a good hunting rifle . Just not sure if I want a 270...

270 is a good round, problem is I don't have any 270 ammo! Lol that means I will have to go out with all the other crazy people looking for ammo .... Lol

270 shouldn't be too tough to come by
