    SWFA and US Optics scopes

Well with all the stuff I've heard about them, then one of my supervisors at work said he has one and likes it, I'm gonna buy one and give it the ol EF and try it out. Then I will get back to you all with reviews...

I'm going to put it on my 5.56 AR upper. It's the SWFA SS first focal plane 10X42 fixed power with side focus with MRAD reticle and MRAD turrets. They are $399 on the website. I've seen enough to try it out for the money, if it hold up to the hype I think I will be pleased. I know it won't be the clearest glass out there, but most important of all is the perfect alignment of the reticle, and perfect tracking of the turrets. I have seen a few videos of guys using them to shoot past 1000 meters very accurately, so we will see! I'm also buying the US Optics 10X fixed power MRAD to put on my 6.5 Grendel upper to stretch this rifle out there too. I put two of my other scopes on consignment at my gun store I use to sell to pay for these first focal plane scopes. I shouldn't come out upside down too bad. I liked the Zeiss Conquest Z-1000 I had, but it's not first focal plane so it just isn't going to work for me anymore with what I'm trying to do... Fingers crossed my upgrades will be worth it!

To be honest I believe you are wasting a 5.56 upper buy putting a fixed 10 power scope on it... Unless you only plan on punching paper at long range and that's it. However if this is all you doing there are much better and more accurate rifles than a AR15. To each his own. I run a 1-4 power that works well on the 5.56 AR platform and a 6.5-20x50 on my AR10. The Grendel is a different story! That's a good long range cartridge. Whatever you do good luck!

Both the 5.56 and 6.5 Grendel uppers I have are 24 inch heavy varminter rigs. These are not tactical rifles. I have them set up for target and hunting applications. They only get used proned out at coyotes, or from a bench. They are way too heavy to carry anywhere.

I ordered the SWFA scope, they are on backorder but expected soon. The guy up there said they are 100% solid scopes, of course he's a salesman, but he did start talking about why and how they are comparable to the Leupold Mark 4, and IOR Valdada scopes. He said the reason they can sell a scope that compares to a Leupold Mark four for their $399 price is because they are made there in house and there is no middle man. Which totally makes since to me. The price mark up of almost everything seems to double once it goes through a middle man..

Good to hear WKH2213! That's what I'm hoping for!

SOLID EAGLE - Yes sir, I will post up what I find when I give it some testing on the scope tracking targets and get a little use on it.

I'll give you feedback on the SS10X42. It's pretty clear, tracks repeatably, hold's it's zero and is built like a tank. The only thing I do not like is the allen screws locking down the turret caps, they will loosen up from time to time so keep them snug. The crosshairs are a little thick for trying to shoot tiny groups past 200 yards but it can be done. I recently shot a cloverleaf at 200 yards with mine. 100 yards will stack them in one hole. The model I have is the side focus, the parallax settings seem to be off a tad but not by much. For hunting purposes in mid day it's great, predator hunting in low light you will not be happy with a fixed 10X. Trust me, I have had a difficult time locating axis deer at a distance early and late with mine. It has cost me a couple times by not being able to dial down the magnification but I knew that would be an issue beforehand. Great scopes with great features at a very good price. You will like it!

Good to know, I have mine on order, can't wait to get it in. If it works really well for me I'm going to buy a few more. I'm in need of a few scopes, 7 to be exact.. lol
