FMJ vs. Soft Point vs. Hollow point

Quick question...I understand the differences and the ballistics of the 3 but which is better for say small game? or predators ie bobcats and coyotes?

I only ask because a couple days ago got my first bobcat. I was using a 7.62x39 HP. Had a quartering away shot that resulted in a recovery the next day and noticed no exit wound or massive tissue damage and NO BLOOD trail.

I honestly expected a 7.62x39 to drop a cat in its tracks with no hopes of getting up.

Dang, no exit with a 7.62x39 on a bobcat?

I used FMJ's on a hog hunt since it was all I had at last minute and only recovered a couple of hogs since they were head shots. The others I shot must of went right through and no blood trails, and I know for sure I hit a bunch with body shots on the run...

Stick with the Soft Point or CoreLokt for better expansion.

Soft point and hollow points are both good varmint bullets.I wouldn't use a fmj for anything other than plinking.
