AR10 lower - what to build other than 308

If I had a stripped AR10 lower what are some suggestions for a flat shooter other than 308. I already have a 308 so don't want two rifles of same caliber. it will be used for deer, hogs and coyotes. would be used from 50yds to 500. really would like to stay away from exotic calibers due to ammo availability and fact I don't shot much negates reloading right now. 7mag interest me but don't think they are avaikable for black guns. 300 also is doable. let me know what y'all know , think or suggest.

    243 or 260? I like 308! Lol

6.5 creedmoor is much more interesting and long range capable than .308.

I hear ya. I will probably just end up doing a superlite 308 build to compliment my extremely heavy Kimber LPT 308 bolt action. I live my Kimber but it sucks hauling around and maneuvering in the stand. weighs a ton.

Nothing wrong with having to stockpile fewer calibers of ammo. Id go 308.

              7mm-08 would be a nice hunting round. Or a 25-06. I'd go 260 before the 6.5 creedmoor.

300AAC Blackout uses the same lower, upper and mags as a 5.56 AR-15 except it requires only a barrel change so that's out. And the AR-10s I've held are heavy...

260 or 6.5 creedmore are both flat shooters.

6mm creedmore would be a good one. Horn addy makes brass for it now.

I guess some people don't read the whole post.

My vote is 260 or 7mm-08. If you reload that should help your decision.

                      I would love a 260 in a AR10 platform.

For those who mentioned it. 25-06 won't fit. And 300AAC would be ridiculous in a AR10 platform. 6.8 would be too since it is sized to fit a AR 15 sized rifle.

7mm-08 would be a great choice.

It'd be nice to have an AR-10.. But I can't fathom giving up a great caliber like a 260, 6.5 Creedmore, or 7mm-08 for a AR-10 build. Those are all perfect bolt action rounds for long range and superior accuracy. Plus, 308 would be the cheapest to run through for a semi auto... a semi auto 260 or 6.5 would be HAIL on the wallet...

Have you seen the accuracy these guns are capable of now? I know my cheap MP-15 Sport will do sub moa with cheap ammo. Several manufacturers are guaranteeing 1/2 MOA.
