Remington Stock replacement ?

I have a Remmy sportsman 78 30.06.
I bought a stock for a 700 ADL L/A

My question comes from the other bedding thread...

I was under the impression I could just swap it out, do I have to bed it?

From my findings the sportsman 78 was a poor mans 700....

Call stockys stocks and talk to them. They usually know all that kind of info, and its a great place to order some stocks..
