I don't think you would be displeased with a Nikon Prostaff with BDC reticle. They are under 200. Put a decent one piece mount and you won't have any worries. I throw mine on the four wheeler and rough it every where. No loss of zero. Click image for larger version

If you are trying to stay as cheap as possible and yet have a decent scope I would look at some of these.
I have a Bushnell Banner on my 22-250 and it is almost 20 years old and it has killed a many of varmints and I gave less than 70.00 for it BNIB.

My yote killer rides with a Nikon 4.5-14x40 buckmaster with a mildot reticle. Only thing I dislike about it is I break every butler creek scope cap I put on it.

It's not ur scope it's the POS caps! I bream them constantly but there coming out with a new tactical line that is much better.

And for scopes the best varmint scope hands down IMO is the trijicon accupoint.
3-10x56 or the 5-20x50 is what I have and wouldn't trade it!

I think you missed the part where he didn't want to spend a lot.

I especially like the accu range reticle, not so much for using the range finder but I like the small circle around the xhairs for quick acquisition on targets. I also have one on my sav 22-250 in 4-12x40.
x2 - the glad is unbelievable for price and reticle is great. seriously check one out before you decide on anything
