Seems like common sense is gaining a foothold!

Eight weeks after the Connecticut school massacre, a ban on the kind of semi-automatic rifle used by the killer appears unlikely.

    It is a start.

make no mistake, they know they cant get a ban right now so they are going after what they think they can get.

notice the terminology has changed. its not "gun ban" anymore its "ending gun violence". after all, what kind of person wouldnt want to end violence ?

the attack on our rights will not stop.

Don't think for a second that they are backing off. They know they don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting the proposed bill through so they go for the "smaller" stuff.

I'll tell you this, not that I want anything to pass but I could swallow a magazine limitation passing but the universal background checks are a no-go. The only way that it would be enforceable will be national registration.

I understand that neither side is backing down. But now MAYBE both sides can slow the hype down, and try to work out real answers. I am more concerned about the changes to private weapon sales than a national registry. The government has proven and accepted that they don't have the resources to maintain one. And wal mart has more info on you than the government ever will.

Once the word gets out that the alleged gun grabbers are not really coming to get anyone's guns, then hopefully things will get back to a sense of normalcy.

Everyone is up in arms about a black gun ban but the biggest threat to gun owners is the no private sales without a NICS check. You are right in that this will lead to gun registration.

Things are starting to sound like compromise even in these statements. Work out real answers??? I'm not working out anything. Swallowing a mag restriction??? Come on mike!

All they want is their foot in the door, once they have that you wont have your guns to get them out of the house.

Chris is right. Im not bending an inch. Gun laws only harm law abiding citizens.
Compromise is the beginning of the end. Make no mistake about it, they won't compromise to let me have MORE gun rights, and i ain't compromising to have less.

Gun laws only effect law abiding citizens.
We should be pushing for term limits, less government intervention, and total annihilation of obamacare. These are "common sense"

I wasn't bothered by background checks, but I won't give in to limitations.

I realize now that we must give nothing.

That's what liberals do not understand. "The slippery slope". Stare decisis. That's why status quo is held above all, because once you make a decision against the current law you set a new precedent & then it's open season to keep pushing & pushing that law you've now changed until there isn't any remnant of it left. Gun control is the most beloved path to tyranny by a government.

Once we give it up, there's no getting it back. Ever.
