    Any .308 subsonic loaders here?

Would love to find someone in Houston area from time to time that reloads subs for .308 when the suppressor arrives - anybody out there?

This would be awesome, all the subsonic .308s I have shot are all over the place... I haven't found a consistent manufacturer yet

Not in Houston but I have loaded some.

168 grain AMax. Listed load is 8.0 grains of Titegroup at 1100 fps.

So far I have backed down to 7.5 grains and it still breaks 1100 fps pretty consistently. They are about 1" groups so far.

That's not much powder. Wow I didn't realize the subsonics cut it down that much.

Dang that is small amount of powder. What does a typical hot load hold gr wise?

I use ~43 grains of Varget for my regular loads.

Subsonic wise, I've had real good luck with 10.5 grains of Trail Boss behind a 190 SMK.

You have to understand that rifle powder and pistol powder have two totally different characteristics. Pistol powder is fast burning and rifle powder is slower burning.

Most subsonic loads use pistol powder so it doesn't take much.

With that small amount of powder are you using magnum primers to insure ignition, or are you using a filler to keep the powder back against the primer? I know when I used to load real light 45-70 rounds, it was recommended to put a filler of cream of wheat on top.

The only issue with using a filler on subsonic loads and shooting them through a can is the filler has a tendency to really foul your can. You will need to use a mag primer but also be very careful working reduced loads up or down because you can get a s.e.e.
I would really shoot supersonic through a 308 win instead of sub. For shooting subs I use my 30-221.

Trail Boss has pretty low density so the brass is relatively full. No need for fillers, etc. Also, a standard rifle primer works well although I understand some people use pistol primers.
