    Selecting AR Sighting System

Ok my new shiny dark colored modern sporting rifle (sorry cracking myself up) is due in tomorrow. I've been trying to figure out what sighting system I want to put on it. It comes with the Magpul rear mbus and the standard fixed A2 front.

My intended use is plinking, dropping the occasional coyote or hog that decides to cross my path at the lease, and home defense. I'd like something for fast solid acquisition from close out to a max of 120 yards or so. Does not have to be rated for the nuclear holocaust, but should have reasonable durability. I'd like to stay at $200 or less. I know that really limits what I have to work with, but its the fact of my fun budget right now

Here is what I've come across researching:
    1. EOTech: by far favorite so far when coupled with a Primary Arms rotating magnifier for the 100+ yard shots. unfortunately its just out of my price range unless I find a steal on CL or eBay on a used one.
    2. Sightmark Ultra Shot: local Texas based company, mostly good reviews, a few bad reviews, in my price range. my question here is are they affordable or are they cheapos.
    3. Primary Arms Red Dot: saw this one on an AR forum, looks to be very well respected, I think it would do most of what I would want to do, but curious if target acquisition is as fast as it is with the reflex type sights. like I can get a matched magnifier for it also.
    4. Bushnell MP: this really does look like a bad ACOG knockoff, but thought I would get opinions.
    5. Others I've come across: Burris Fastfire, Vortex Strikefire, Vortex Sparc.

Just need some opinions on which type of sight would probably work best for me, and any suggestions for options in my budget.

The Fastfire, Strikefire or Sparc would all work good for what you have listed above. Beyond those you could always put a lower end variable power scope like a Nikon Prostaff, Burris FF II, or a Cabelas base model scope.

Any of them would work just fine as these new modern sporting rifles have very little recoil!

I have the strikefire on my AR and it does exactly what you describe. EOtechs are nice but you won't find one for less than $350-$500. At $150 the strikefire is a real bargain and Vortex has awesome customer service. Plus if you ever purchase any night vision, the vortex is ready to go with a NV setting. PM arrowsmith he will hook you up.

Strikefire might be the key, and I can always mount a PA swing magnifier behind it when budget allows.

id go with the sparq over the strikefire for weight purposes.

Also the SPARC has the 2MOA dot vs the Strikeforce's 5MOA which might be a tad big for the 120 yard application.

I just picked up the sight mark ultra shot QD red dot at academy for $99 and it comes with a lifetime warranty. The reviews looked real good considering the price

Well I like them because they are in Mansfield.... but just leery on stuff that seems priced too good to be true.

The only issue I've read about them is that if you change the aperture then you have to re zero. I don't shoot enough to justify a $400 eotech so for me the price was worth a try

If you get one you should find a small piece of paper in the box. It contains the correct instructions on the battery installation. The regular manual is wrong.

Lol yeah, I could tell there were some uh... hrm "challenged" individuals on amazon that had that issue. Does it feel relatively durable? Have you shot it yet?

It appears pretty stout but I have not shot with it yet
