    reloaders, brass question

I am wanting to start reloading and am starting to buy supplies. I ordered some .260 lapua brass and need some 7-08. I dont see where they make 7-08 in lapua. So my question is would you buy .308 lapua and resize to 7-08? Is this an easy process? Or would you buy Norma brass? Is quality comparible?

buy some 260 Lapua brass and run it through a 7mm expander to get your 7-08 brass

the 308 L may be cheaper as you can neck size down with bushings. you may have to neck turn. I beleive the 308L brass is shorter than the 260L brass. the 7-08 and 260 have the same OAL case length .... double check to be sure

it's been my experience that Norma brass is softer than Lapua and primer pockets tend to expand after 10-15 firings

Lapua will last forever , and in the long run worth every penny

my late BR buddy Dave shot a single Lapua 220 Russian case over 40 times and the primer pockets were still tight and going strong

Norma is very good brass yet not in the same league as Lapua

Thanks. I have a new cooper and factory 140 gr. Loadings are fair but not what I expect. I have some 120 I am going to try. The factory target was one hole but shot with a 130 gr smk and I don't find a 130 gr hunting bullet.

Lapua brass, Varget, and 140 gr Nosler BT's / 139 gr Hornady SST's might be your poison

As usual Blake is spot on. I always prefer to size up and trim rather then neck down and have to neck turn.

And yes, the 260 case length is about .020 +/- longer than the .308. Below pictures are virgin Lapua brass.

If the gun was tested with SMKs, assuming you are looking for a hunting bullet, look at loading 130 grain Berger VLD hunting bullets.

How long is your barrel and is it built on a long action or short action?
