Info on AR's and High Cap Mags I got.

A few things that I thought may help:

    1. Nelson at the Sportsman's guide one of the leaders in volume sales of high cap magazines told me directly that orders placed prior to any bans for high cap magazines will be viewed as already sold items with shipping delays and that those orders will ship even post ban as they get re-stocked.

    2. Spikes Tactical Kat has told me that they are still about 6-8 months backorded for the spikes AR platform and 12 months on any Zombie or Punisher logoed platforms but orders on their site are being processed as quickly as possible. It appears their pricing is unchanged if you want to vist them directly to order.

    Hope this helps.

Don't think they can legally sell back ordered mags if there ever was a ban to go into effect... Could be wrong though...

Two major issues with his answer is that it will depend on what version of the AWB gets passed and that the magazine has to be made before the law goes into affect.

If the law says you cannot transfer any magazine after such and such date, then he's wrong. If it says you cannot sell any magazines after such and such date, he may be right depending on the definition of sell. Of course, it won't matter how many magazines are backordered because it will be illegal to possess a magazine made after effective date of the law, whether you ordered it or not.

One of the big complaints about the last AWB was the magazines were still being imported into the US after the AWB went into affect because they were made before 1994. Don't expect that loophole again.

Any idea when the ban may be passed and go into effect?

I wrote my reps via the Sturm Ruger website and this is what I got in return, glad I live in Texas:

Thank you for your email on this very important issue. I anticipate several bills will be filed this session related to protecting the 2nd Amendment and I look forward to assisting in that effort to protect the 2nd Amendment. One of the bills that has already been filed is House Bill 553 by Representative Otto. He filed it in response to concerns about the infringements on the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution by the federal government. His bill applies to "all federal acts, laws, executive orders, agency orders, and rules or regulations of all kinds" and nullifies "all federal acts with the purpose, intent, or effect of:
                    (1) confiscating any firearm,
                    (2) banning any firearm,
                    (3) limiting the size of a magazine for any firearm,
                    (4) imposing any limit on the ammunition that may be purchased for any firearm,
                    (5) taxing any firearm or ammunition therefore, or
                    (6) requiring the registration of any firearm or ammunition therefore."

Thanks again for your show of support to the 2nd Amendment.

                    Best Regards,

                    Larry Phillips

This would be huge if it passes, but that would be difficult if not impossible...

I spent all last week at the Safari Club International show in Reno, NV. It's the largest hunting show in the world. I went to an NRA reception while out there and talked to several high ranking NRA executives and they told me that, in their opinion, a ban will not pass due to the current make up of the House of Representatives. They are still going to fight, obviously, any and all bills that try to get passed.

the NRA isnt perfect but they are what we got. They need our continued support, even if its a small check.

Thats right. Make your donations to the NRA/ILA, they said that 100% of those donations go directly to their legal fund.
