Tactical/Scoping question

I have a mini 14 with tactical stock and a picatinny rail for optics mounting. Right now I have an ATN MK350 night scope mounted on it. I want to also have some type of scope to mount on it for day use.

I need your advise on what to go with for a scope. Red dot, 2-7X, etc? Mount something to the side of the night scope? Want to keep costs conservative so go easy on the expensive suggestions.
