I'm new to reloading and I need some help with the roll crimp on my cast semi wadcutters. I just want to make sure I am doing it right. How do I know if it is too much crimp or not enough? Help please.

Roll crimp 38 help

When I roll crimp on cast bullets, I try to make it very light. Just enough to take the flare out of the case mouth. This works fine on lighter loads. I don't know if a 38 Special is hot enough to jump crimp.
I like to work with a separate crimp die too rather than seat the bullet/crimp in one step.
