Need TBHers opinion on a couple of rifles

I want to buy a new rifle and having a hard time choosing. Remington SPS Tactical, Remington Varmint SF both in 308, also looking at 22 magnums either a Savage or Browning T-Bolt. 4 you guys that know guns give me your opinions on these guns. Thanx Calvin

im no expert but rem 700s are the standard. the tactical is nice gun but high, varmints less money but stocks are junk, that being said i own two. If i was looking at rimfire, you may think about a 17, 22 ammo almost impossible to find right now...dont know if that help if not what you really wanting to know?

        Love my SPS.

Get the AAC version. You might want a suppressor down the line.

Depends if you want short barrel or long barrel. Stocks are mediocre to poor on either of them. Triggers are the same. Long barrel really not needed on the .308 unless you just want it.

I have no experience with the T-Bolt but my Savage 17HMR and 22WMR are both shooters. I wish I could change out the Accutrigger though. I don't like them.

I have the Remington Varmint in .308 and it's a true one hole gun with the right ammo, even in the crappy stock. Mine is the exact same as the SPS Varmint, but with a blind magazine, like the old ADL version. I want to change the stock and shorten the barrel, but I'm afraid to mess with it because it shoots so well. I hated the trigger that it came with (X-mark...the non adjustable model) but it was easy enough to swap out. I put an old style trigger in it, but a Timney would be a better choice, just wasn't in my budget at the time. I paid $540 out the door from ****'s Sporting Goods, and it came with a $50 mail in rebate. Also came with a set of bases and rings, and a cheap scope which I promptly swapped out.
